It appears that BIR is now going to enforce a "no-gizmo" or "no starting line enhancement" type rule for Bracket III and Competition Trophy. I understand it is up to the individual track if they want to enforce this ruling or not. I don't disagree with the ruling, I just disagree with the timing. You do all the hard work to get to a decision on what class(s) to run this year, you come up to BIR, pay the money to race and even get teched in. Then after already running you are told that after this weekend you cannot run a trans-brake in the class.

Again, I don't disagree with the ruling but this needed to be communicated before we go racing for the season! These classes already had under 20 cars each, now they have 2 less cars and one of those drivers will not be back to BIR. In fact, the Bracket III winner is one of the guys kicked out so now those points are either lost or he has to run the old truck or something ... how fun is that?!?

This brings up a worn out topic of communication. I hope BIR is able to pull together a little "Racing 101 @ BIR" brochure that is also available on the web. I think with the new staff and renewed interest maybe this could happen.

Thanks for listening to my rant.

TONY YOU HIT THE NAIL ON THE HEAD, THEY SHOULD JUST GO TO A TWO HANDS ON THE STEERING WHEEL. IT'S NOT THE HARDEST THING TO LOOK FOR AND WITH ONLY (HOPEFULLY) 30 TO 40 CARS EACH TIME IT SHOULDN'T PUT TO MUCH MORE WORK ON THE STARTING LINE CREW.

I would think just not using it should be enough. Make drivers launch with both hands on the wheel in plain view or something. They do that at the big footbrake-only races down south that attract a lot of transbrake-equipped cars.

If I had to remove the transbrake, I wouldn't be able to back up!

The delay box is a little different since a transbraked no-box car sounds exactly the same on the starting line as a delay box car.

I also think that Comp Trophy should be allowed to use transbrakes. The Rock gets many 9-second cars running Trophy with a transbrake, and it is you "top" trophy class. Some people have real-live race cars that aren't interested in racing for money.

It has to be REMOVED...just like a delay-box has to be removed if you switch from Bracket 1 to Bracket 2.

Not real suprising to me considering BIR changed the ET break for Bracket II and the Bracket III entry fee is $80.

See ya in Staging!!!

Do you actually have to remove the trans-brake or can you "promise" not to use it (the starting line guys will know if you do). There was only about 20 cars last weekend in Bracket III which I was very surprised about.

DARREN I UNDERSTAND YOUR POINT THAT BIR SHOULD HAVE SAID SOMETHING BEFORE THE SEASON OR SOONER. ALTHOUGH IT'S BEEN A RULE NHRA WISE FOR AWHILE THAT YOU CAN'T USE A TRANSBRAKE IN BKT III (SPORTSMAN). MY DAD RUNS OUR FAMLIES IMPALA IN BKT III AND I TOLD HIM LAST YEAR THAT HE CAN'T USE THE TRANSBRAKE IN THE CAR, SO HE JUST FOOTBRAKES IT AND HAS SINCE LAST SEPTEMBER WHEN WE INSTALLED THE T-BRAKE IN THE CAR. SINCE WERE ON BKT III THEY SHOULD LOOK INTO MAKING THE ENTRY THE SAME AS THE TROPHY CLASSES AND MAKE IT MORE OF A STARTER CLASS ESPECIALLY IF THEY'RE OUTLAWING A T-BRAKE IN CARS.

Speaking of rules....I noticed a few Bracket II cars with the LONG Biondo 5.0 button in them this weekend as well. And NHRA outlawed those.

As for the Copm Trophy/Bracket III issue---I BELIEVE that's the way it's done at the ET Finals---so to me, that would only make sense. I've never run the class, so I'm not 100% sure on that. But hey---that's what Bracket II is for---lots of room for more in there.

Heck---if I made the rules, I would mandate ALL cars run slicks too! Street tires beat the starting line up too much.

See ya in Staging!!!
