GREAT NEWS!

Bill Johnson and the rest of the BIR Tech crew will be holding Tech inspections at the MDRA CAR SHOW April 26. This will be the official NHRA ETI (Extended Tech Inspection) After passing and completing the necessary forms you will receive the ETI sticker for your race car. This NHRA ETI inspection is valid at BIR as well as ALL OTHER NHRA TRACKS. There is no charge for this but you must be an NHRA member.

Make sure you bring all your safety equipment with you (jacket, pants, helmet...etc) You should also have with you MFG names and serial #'s for other required SFI equipment.

Special thanks to the tech crew for offering this to our racers.

Post back with any questions.

Joe Schmall

This is the eti tech for the summit bracket racing series. These are good for any nhra summit racing series event, (nhra bracket racing programs)the eti's are not valid for a Lucas oil event (divisional events) nhra requires a divisional tech inspector to perform those (I may be able to make that happen buy the time we get to the show) We need all dates on sfi equip and all serial numbers and manufactures info. You need a current nhra membership and permanent number to be eligible for the eti. This inspection requires us to verify all numbers so we will be using jacks to see flexplates/flywheels and trans shields etc. These inspections expire when your first safety item or membership or number expires so if your belts are due mid season replace them now or you will need to be reinspected again (yes the full inspection (15-40 minutes depending on vehicle requirements) Make sure you bring your helmet, jacket, gloves, pants, collars as needed.
We'll see you soon and if you have any question post or e-mail me
Phil

Prixmo---Why would you need to go through the FULL inspection if for example just your seat belts are expired (which is every 2yrs). That makes no sense to me.
Why can't you just pull the 'card' for the car, look to see that the belts are expired...see the new belts installed, and simply update the 'card.' Why would you even bother with looking at a flex plate, transmission case, balancer, etc. when you already have at the initial inspection, and have ALL those dates on record???

Travis, we send the eti forms in to nhra. They are the ones who require the complete recheck. From the 2008 ETI Policy & Procedure Manual.
" A re-inspection MUST receive a full and complete inspection as if it was a totally different vehicle. It is NOT ACCEPTABLE to just recopy the same numbers onto a new form with a new date! "
The eti is good for 12 months from the last day of the inspection month or until the end of the month that any dated item expires. If your membership expires in the middle of the month the date would be the last day of the month prior to the month your membership expires.
Hope this helps.
Phil

I arrive at the Car Show with my car, equipment, numbers, dates, etc.
Then what? How do I participate? When do I fill out the forms? Can I do that in advance?

Thanks

I think we should do a Sign Up Sheet for this event, so the Tech folks have a heads-up on who to see...

Your thoughts???

Hey Phil,
Are you going to be checking for legal transbrake buttons for Pro ET during ETI this year?

Will there be a provision to allow cars that run at BIR to do the tech inspection without an NHRA number?

I did present this question directly to Jed and he did say we can do our tech inspection as well, those without NHRA numbers who race at BIR.

A final note on the tech inspection..... The official word is you can either get teched for Brainerd, NHRA Summit Super Series, or NHRA Lucas Oil Sportsman Series.

Have fun teching cars in the rain/sleet/snow/mud puddles. Not looking like a good weekend at all for the Car Show.

Hopefully Summer will get here soon and we can at least get to some drag racing! I'm going stir crazy in Internet Racer Forum Rehab!!!

Prixmo---

I teched my Chevelle last night, so I'm good to go. LOL

I even wrote down all of my Serial Numbers/Dates and put them on a sheet of paper and had it laminated.

I'll see you at BIR in a few weeks and you can check my work. hahaha Hopefully it will be more like summer and not winter!

You guys do a great job...and I do thank you for looking out for our safety as racers and friends!!!
