You should be thankful you didn't wreck the motor in the middle of the season. You can get everything back together without missing a race!

Short block should be done Wednesday or Thursday. Comp cams overnight-ed the cam today. I have all peripherals prepped and cleaned ready for assembly. Hope I never go through this again. Expensive and exhausting
Should be at BIR the weekend of the 10th for MDRA race. Have to Shake her down again.

Good news !! The block is savable, new cam on order and the short block being assembled by the professionals at TPI specialties.
A huge Thank you to Clay down there at the horse power farm.
They are swamped and put my stuff at a priority over other Motors there. This is why I keep returning to them. ( Good people )
Myron changed the cam profile after pouring over data from solid and the one I just wrecked. Should make more HP !

I think I remember a story that included my dad breaking a new tranny on the jack stands at home back in the day. The work never ends...

straight weight SAE 30 non detergent it has the SL rating. I have used that for years with no trouble. Even mt flat tappet cam broke in using this oil and it lasted 8 seasons and it looks new as I put it on the Shelf.

My engine machinist and I determined the cam to bearing was a
little too tight. My bad !
Expensive mistake and learning experience. Have been building motors for years and still don't know everything.

Sorry to hear it Dave,
what kind of break-in lube did you use?
(just curious)
i have heard the oils these days including
"race oils" do not have the proper additives
to keep up with a the cams used in racing.
a local engine builder has me using half a
bottle of Crane break in lube with every
oil change, this after my last cam flattened
a lobe.

Joey Marx was right!! BOP does stand for broken or problematic.

Got my motor apart and found the cam bearings looked like Palto fun factory extruded them out from between the bore and the journals on 3 of them.
